Australia left out of the plan
**RANT**
It seems that Australia has once again been left out of the loop in regards to events.
The opening of the eagerly awaited DoA (Domain of Anguish) is accessible at PST late evening...now is it just me or us Aussies dont get to play till..SATURDAY? If i read correctly the event was to be open FRIDAY. Now a time can be easily arranged during daylight hours for timezones but ...once again we're left forgotten.
Its not only this event. Its happened countless times, christmas events, haloween, dragon festivle, and considering Australia takes up a large portion of Guild Wars players, its my oppinion that a-net just dont seem to care anymore, (eg the shipment of the preorder Nightfall packs this year).
and of course...districts
Why on earth are us Aussies put under EUROPEAN districts???
Out timezones are hours upon hours apart, ( being closer to America than anything else), making it extremely troublesome for us players to mix with the rest of the community.
So ill ask the question, does A-net really consider us as part of the GuildWars comunity?
*puts on flame guards*
**END OF RANT**

Maybe Im wrong, but it sounds to me that this has to do with timezones and not that anet hates australians.

Yea but thats why you dont have the problems with the community,
since everyone you play with is Australian, mixed guilds have a harder time playing together because of timezones.

I must correct my words a bit.
My entire alliance is Australian from foundation.
Most leaders and officers are aussie's but there's a mass on otherplayers in all allied guilds

cry more please.
Anet provides access to zone for everyone at same time, and the OP cries and whines.
If Anet provided australian friday acces to new zone (and not providing access to americans until their friday), then all the americans would be here whining and crying.
solution: cry and whine more

I don't think Austrailia gets left out alot. Most of the time, Anet starts their weekends at 12am PST, which is roughly noon give or take a few hours in Austrailia. That leaves out alot of Americans from actually getting started in those particular events (that is unless you are a night creature).
Anyway, the Domain of Anguish will be open forever, so there is no need to feel gyped out of anything.

i dont understand this, really. most of arenanets major updates happen at midnight pst, which is (at current time standards) 7pm AuEST, which is perfect. theres only a few times where they launch something at midday (7am), and even then you can just play when you get home from work (or school). no biggie. for schoolkids its even less of a worry for weekend updates and events because they start saturday morning when the cartoons start :P

Yeah Australia should get their own server and district. The only other ppl allowed on there should be for whining poms. (Poms are the British btw).

I agree with you regarding having to waste a region change right from the start, a choice would be nice. They are aware of this issue and have said it happens because our boxes get shipped from europe and thats why we're put on euro servers.
However regarding timing of events, I don't find it too much of a problem usually. Except this weekend happens to be very rude timing because I'll have to keep one eye on the monitor and the other on the tele to make sure Oooh Aaah is getting wickets.
Wouldn't mind if they made them week long instead of weekend events though (now there's an idea).
It's the euros and koreans i feel sorry for. Hardly ever having favour would start to tick you off after a while.

The original poster is correct on only ONE account. Australian players who work will see less of the Domain of Anguish than EU or NA players. However this will ALWAYS be the case, as it is unfair to have staggered release times (and virtually impossible given the server setup).
The timezone however does work to our advantage usually in that release times are normally around 5-6pm EST, when we are getting home from work, on a Friday. EU and NA customers have to and do take the day off sick in order to get into the new content immediately upon release.
So this one doesn't. So what? We get the short end of the stick in the trade arena, but most of us don't waste our hard earned moolah now to buy the lastest and greatest anyway. It isn't like it is going anywhere. It is a permenant feature.
With regard to server, this has be brought up before. Anet says that it is not feasible to have a server for AU and NZ players. I'll take their word for this, but having said that I'm not too sure I'd change from the EU server anyway. I have so many friends in the UK I play with, and have made many more friends in the game (Germans, Swedes, Dutch) who I really enjoy playing with.
If you have a problem with the timezone differences, then maybe the NA server is for you, their main playing times (evenings/nights) are roughtly our afternoons/evenings.
As for WHY we default to EU, why not? We are English (pre-Microsoft designations) speakers after all.

I doubt any Aussies would play on an aussie server. It'd be a ghost town. There's a lot of us in the game but nothin like enough to see districts full of people in the major outposts.
I picked the US servers because they seemed to be much fuller. One of my storage accounts is in Euro though, it has quite a different feel about it. A lot more mixed language chat etc in major districts. It's kind of cool actually, but yeah US servers is where everyone's at.

Not every Aussie is on the NA server. There is a sizable population of Australian players on the EU server. Some never bother changing, and others have formed friends by the time they realise they can change. And some like myself did change and couldn't put up with the amazingly bad behaviour of some of the NA players back when EU was a much quieter server.
We used to get NA players coming over to the EU server to spam how bad the server was in the chat channel in LA. Haven't see that for ages though... Might have something to do with NA having to actually fight for favour now...
The history of Aussies on NA servers was actually started by a number of large Aussie guilds changing because EU never had favour. That isn't the case anymore. I dare say that now Aussie players change because the guild they want to be in is on the NA servers, despite the fact that you don't HAVE to be on the servers to play with the guild, it's only FoW and UW that is the problem. And as for other languages, most Europeans understand enough English to get by in the game. Sure, you can usually tell if they aren't native speakers, but 90% of them actually make an effort. I find it amazing that the NA players are deadset against a French and Spanish district, despite the fact that their server does include regions that speak these languages.

I am playing from Singapore, I am so screwed!!! /QQ more
Server issue- you can always switch to US servers, no one is stopping you.
Timezone issue- You get it "later", it ends "later" for you as well. There's really not that much of a difference except inconvience of start and end times. There were instances where non US players benefit from event time zone starts as well, just fewer in the number of cases. Edit: Not forgeting this event isnt going to go away, its here to stay.

Yep here in Singapore, when i am playing Amercians are sleeping, and when i am sleeping they are playing. ITS SO UNFAIR! US players should reverse their sleep/play cycle to suit ME ME ME.
Give me a local server or give me death /QQ
Theres many threads like this one over the course of time and has been brought up and closed. I dont see this as any different since its a rant anyways.

When I started playing, I enjoyed the European districts for a while.. but I moved to the American one because back then, the American servers were alot more populated during the times that I played Guild Wars, especially when they split up the EU servers into separate language districts.
Don't really want to waste a territory change to find out whether the EU servers are populated now or not. >.<
